One Thing At A Time

As I'm late this week, I'm going to get right to it.  As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Our winner this week is John Xero with Cosmic Discord: The visuals here are stunning.  The pace and tightness of the writing make this a true joy to read.  Thank you.

In second place is Antonia Woodville with part 52 of the captain's tale:  I never cease to be amazed by the depth and detail in these stories.  The Captain's voice has taken root in my head.  I no longer have to think about how he sounds.  I simply hear him.  It's wonderful stuff!  Thank you.

The Tome has provided new words as I've typed.

Bible
Tissue
Riot

The usual rules apply: 100 words maximum (excluding title) of flash fiction or poetry using all of the three words above in the genres of horror, fantasy, science fiction or noir. All variants and use of the words and stems are fine. You have until Friday evening.

Feel free to post links to your stories on Twitter or Facebook or whichever social media best pleases you and, if you like, remind your friends that we are open to new and returning writers.

Digging In

For me, Spring means planting vegetables. Lots and lots of vegetables. I live in one of the most fertile places on earth, and it seems ungrateful not to use the magic dirt to provide for friends and family. Which is why I spent almost 8 hours doing heavy labor in the garden this weekend. Exhausting work, but it pays off later, both in vegetables and fewer weeds. It also, it seems, distracts me to the point where I forget to post winners and words. I shall endeavor to improve.

There were fewer entries than usual on the last post, but the quality was superb. The winner this week is AJ Humpage with State of Happiness. As I said in comments, sometimes the worst horror is the one that can (and does) happen.

The tome has taken a break from eating my flowers to give us these words:

Hammer
Convince
Slim

I can't wait to see what you do with these!

All The Things.

Ever feel like you're doing All The Things, All The Time?   Yeah, this last couple of weeks has been like that. There are times when so many things go so wrong so fast that from one day to the next, you simply can't keep track.

Anyhow...I'm quite sorry for being so late.  *points upwards*.  It was THAT stuff caused it.

Our winner this week is Antonia Woodville with Infinity 50:  I think I felt as much relief as the Captain did at the resolution of this!

Like RR, I am having a difficult time choosing a second place winner this week, because everyone was so enjoyable.

So...on to words...

Cliff
Grease
Ladder

All variants and use of the words and stems are fine. I'm going to leave the gates open until Saturday evening to give a bit of extra time since I'm so late posting this week.
